Three things to do in Wisconsin
(Last Updated On: 21. October 2019)
In some blogs I’ve seen tons of information about things to do in Wisconsin. But frankly, I didn’t have time to visit them all. And I doubt that there is someone else outside who has enough to time for all of these “attractions”. I’ve been for 8 days in Wisconsin and had time to visit just a couple of interesting things. Because for me, quality comes before quantity. If you have the same opinion, this article might be the one you are looking for. Here, you won’t find 100 things to do in Wisconsin but just a hand full of them. But the experience will be much intensive than if you would have visited 100 places to be within a brief time. So read on, folks.
Milwaukee
During my visit in Wisconsin, I spent the most of my time in this city. Thus, I had an opportunity to visit some locations I would like to share with you. In this article, you will find a brief overview of things to do in Milwaukee. The detailed information you will find in my separate article about Milwaukee.
Things to do in Milwaukee:
- Harley Davidson Museum – if you like motorbikes, gasoline and the road
- Lunch at the Baseball Stadium – not just for Baseball fans
- Museum of Milwaukee – for history and science lovers
- Pabst House – for beer enthusiasts, fans of history and old architecture
- Visit a festival – not only for Oktoberfest fans
- Visit the art museum – the name speaks for itself
- Cat cafe “Sip & Purr” – Not for people with a cat phobia
- Black Cat Alley – If you like street art
- The Safe House – a restaurant with a funny concept for all who want to act like a secret agent
- Ladybug building – for all who like interesting architecture concepts
Oshkosh – The Aviation Show*
Every fan of aircrafts should go there. Oshkosh is located about 90 miles (apprx. 145 km) north of Milwaukee and the aviation show is organized by the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA). The EAA was established in 1953 by a small group of individuals. But now this association is an organization with more than 180,000 members. And every year the EAA organizes a huge aviation show, called the “AirVenture Oshkosh“.
At the AirVenture you will see tons of different types of planes and jets. Every year it’s a different theme, folks. Thus, its never really the same event, so it’s actually worth to go every year there. Besides that, there are a lot of air shows awaiting you and an evening programming as well.
The AirVenture Oshkosh takes place for about one week and this event is actually perfect for you if you bring more time than just one day. Unfortunately, I had only one day to spend time there. But a lot of people spent the whole week at the aviation show, camping in tents or caravans.
To me, it was an impressive time there and I am sure, I will return there one day. I hope, you will have there as much of pleasant time as I had, folks.
Sheboygan – Art and Nature
If you had enough of crowds and need some calmness, I recommend you to go to Sheboygan. There you will find two great and worthful places to be: the Art Museum and the Kohler-Andrae State Park, which is a great place to be close to mother nature and Lake Michigan.
John Michael Kohler Arts Center
This place would be interesting for those who are on budget, for the entrance into this museum is for free. At the Kohler Arts Center, you will find different modern types of arts. The exhibitions are changing so you would find there over and over again new arts to discover.
I liked this place very much and the funny thing is that there even the toilets are not just normal toilets but they are a kind of art. I don’t want to ruin the fun and recommend you just to go there and to find it out, folks.
Kohler-Andrae State Park
After you have visited the Arts Center in Sheboygan, I recommend you to go a little bit out of the town, southward to the Kohle-Andrae State Park.
What will you find here?
This park is famous for its sand dunes you can walk around on artificially constructed wooden paths. Just check out the pic, folks. Here you can spend your time amidst nature and recreate yourself. But you can, of course, take a hike through the forest close to the sand dunes area.
If you have enough of wandering around, you can relax on the beach of the Michigan Lake which is very close to the sand dunes. Especially, Lake Michigan gave me something special to feel. Although a lake, I felt like I am at a shore of an ocean due to the immense size of Lake Michigan. So I took my time just to sit there and watching the water, the clouds and to come down. Try it out, folks.
The park is open every day from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. and you need to pay for the entrance. Check the admission fees here, folks. The Kohler-Andrae State Park is a non-profit organization, and the collected money would be invested in the operation of this park.
Okay, folks. I think those three possibilities, what to do in Wisconsin, will deliver you a plenty of impressions and a good time in the United States. In case you would like to know more about things to do in the USA, I can recommend you to read the article about Halloween attractions in California and beyond.
Thank you for this information. Sounds interesting.
