Free wallpaper – Christmas theme No. 2

While I am working on the third part of my Salkantay Trek diary series, I made another free wallpaper for you, folks.

I designed this one with components of some Christmas candy canes and a mistletoe. Have you ever know that mistletoe is actually a parasite and that the kissing under a mistletoe comes from the Nordic mythology? And what’s the deal with candy? One version says that this candy was “invented” in the second half of the 17th century in Germany. I say: have fun with the wallpapers! You can use the wallpaper both for private and commercial purposes as well.

Crediting is not required but of course, appreciated. In this case I’d love it if you share this blogpost on social media, folks.

Time for reflections and development

Before I started Snoopy Alien, I traveled frequently and I had no intents to start a blog at all. But at a certain point I thought, why not? I mean, I had a lot of traveling experiences, and maybe there are people out there looking for information. After a concept phase and creating of the first content, I finally launched my blog.

But having a 9/5 job, traveling, doing photography and creating a blog at the same time is more challenging than someone might think. At least, I noticed that it was a challenge for me to combine those factors like writing content after work, editing pictures, doing some backlink building and so on. During the warm seasons at the weekends I neither had much time as I was doing what I love to do – to grab my DSLR and to travel, to hike, to trek and to explore as often my time allowed it.

Now, as the autumn is almost over and the winter time is approaching, it’s time for some reflections and to do some developments as well. For in my opinion, to travel excessively just for the sake of travel cannot be the target. The quality is the determinant factor, not the quantity.

What does that mean for Snoopy Alien? Well, my photography section calls for more content, the website itself could get some improvements and I’d like to invest more time for Photoshop again.

What does it mean for you, folks?

This means, you would get a better experience when you visit my blog (at least, I hope so). This also means, during the winter time, you will find here less articles about traveling and destinations but more articles about photography. Of course, you’ll nevertheless get some new articles about travling and destinations. E.g. right now, I am preparing a series of content about my 4-day trek in Peru from Cusco to Machu Picchu.

And as I would like to dedicate more time to Photoshop again, I’d like create some wallpapers you can download for free from time to time. I got the idea about the wallpapers already a couple of months ago and now it’s time to do some work for this.

As the Christmas time is coming closer, I’d like to start with a couple of wallpapers with Christmas themes. After that, I’d like to make some wallpapers for the New Year’s Eve and so on. Once started, I’ll continue to create new wallpapers and will continue doing this after the winter is over. In general, I’am planning to publish every week one wallpaper so you could change your wallpapers every week if you want.

The first free wallpaper you will be able to download at the end of November as I need to lay foundations for this first. So wait and see what comes, folks.

Would you like to be the first one to be informed about new free wallpapers? Then follow me on Facebook and Twitter.

With this in mind I say: “read me later” 😉

Traveling by train in Germany

germany train, deutschebahn, bahn de, german railwaypassThe Germans have different opinions about the German railway company, called Deutsche Bahn [dɔʏtʃə ba:n]. A lot of them love to travel with the “Bahn”, how it is called in Germany. On the other hand, a lot of people  cursing it as unpunctual, as dirty, with bad service and with a fare system which nobody understands. But in defence of the Deutsche Bahn I need to say that the Germans tend to complain and to grumble often. That’s why we in Germany have a saying, that the Germans have a so-called “whining gene”. Besides that, opinions are very subjective. But when you consider it more objectively, you will find that to travel by train in Germany is not as bad as it’s been told. I’ve been traveling for a couple of years by train across Germany and had mostly good experiences. In this article you will finde some information about traveling by train in Germany.

Six German folk festivals besides Oktoberfest

folk festival, oktoberfest, germanyThe Oktoberfest in Munich is the biggest folk festival in Germany and it’s the most famous fair in the world. That’s why this folk festival goes beyond the borders of Germany. For instance, only in the United States there are several copies of the original German Oktoberfest taking place. Meanwhile, there is even in China an Oktoberfest in the city called Qingdao Allegedly, the Oktoberfest in Cincinnati, called “Oktoberfest Zinzinnati” ist the best of all US copies. I’ve never been in Cincinnati and I cannot compare it with the German original. And if I even would have been in Cincinnati, I could not compare it because I never went to the German Oktoberfest although I live a stone’s throw away from Munich. The reason for that is, that to me as a German, Oktoberfest is nothing special because there a lot of folk festivals spreading across Germany. Actually, almost every German town and city has its own fair. Therefore, I would like to introduce to you some other famous folk festivals in Germany which are at least as good as Oktoberfest.
