Salkantay Trek diary – Part 2: Acclimatization in Cusco

salkantay trek, cusco, machu picchu hiking

This is the second part of my diary series about my trekking trip when I was walking the Salkantay Trek from Cusco to Machu Picchu. Click here to jump to the first part of the diary, folks. This part it about the second day in Cusco we spent to acclimatize ourselves for the trek. As I wrote in the travel guide about the Salkantay Trek, it is advisable to stay at least two days in Cusco to acclimatize a bit before you start with your trek. Of course, this applies to all trekking activities in the mountains with altitudes higher than 3000 m (9800 ft), not only to Salkantay Trek. But now, let’s continue with the diary. (more…)

Salkantay Trek diary – Part 1: Viva el Peru

This is the first part of my diary series about my trekking trip to Peru when I was walking the Salkantay Trek from Cusco to Machu Picchu. What will you get from reading this diary? Well, my former plan was just to publish the travel guide for the Salkantay Trek. But later I got clear, that publishing this trip diary too, could give you a deeper view about what you can expect from the whole trip. If you also would like to walk this trek and looking for a travel guide, please read my guest post on the website of Cory & G from But now, let’s start with the diary, at the point of arrival in Cusco… (more…)

Time for reflections and development

Before I started Snoopy Alien, I traveled frequently and I had no intents to start a blog at all. But at a certain point I thought, why not? I mean, I had a lot of traveling experiences, and maybe there are people out there looking for information. After a concept phase and creating of the first content, I finally launched my blog.

But having a 9/5 job, traveling, doing photography and creating a blog at the same time is more challenging than someone might think. At least, I noticed that it was a challenge for me to combine those factors like writing content after work, editing pictures, doing some backlink building and so on. During the warm seasons at the weekends I neither had much time as I was doing what I love to do – to grab my DSLR and to travel, to hike, to trek and to explore as often my time allowed it.

Now, as the autumn is almost over and the winter time is approaching, it’s time for some reflections and to do some developments as well. For in my opinion, to travel excessively just for the sake of travel cannot be the target. The quality is the determinant factor, not the quantity.

What does that mean for Snoopy Alien? Well, my photography section calls for more content, the website itself could get some improvements and I’d like to invest more time for Photoshop again.

What does it mean for you, folks?

This means, you would get a better experience when you visit my blog (at least, I hope so). This also means, during the winter time, you will find here less articles about traveling and destinations but more articles about photography. Of course, you’ll nevertheless get some new articles about travling and destinations. E.g. right now, I am preparing a series of content about my 4-day trek in Peru from Cusco to Machu Picchu.

And as I would like to dedicate more time to Photoshop again, I’d like create some wallpapers you can download for free from time to time. I got the idea about the wallpapers already a couple of months ago and now it’s time to do some work for this.

As the Christmas time is coming closer, I’d like to start with a couple of wallpapers with Christmas themes. After that, I’d like to make some wallpapers for the New Year’s Eve and so on. Once started, I’ll continue to create new wallpapers and will continue doing this after the winter is over. In general, I’am planning to publish every week one wallpaper so you could change your wallpapers every week if you want.

The first free wallpaper you will be able to download at the end of November as I need to lay foundations for this first. So wait and see what comes, folks.

Would you like to be the first one to be informed about new free wallpapers? Then follow me on Facebook and Twitter.

With this in mind I say: “read me later” 😉
